Trugo 2008-09 season hits off this September

The Trugo 2008-09 season is to begin next Thursday on September 4, 2008.

The season runs from September to April 2009 and is played around the inner suburbs of Melbourne Australia.

Competition matches are played on Thursdays at 12:00pm and run for about 1 hour with a lite afternoon tea supplied by the host club.

Keep your unique local game alive and play a game today!

Registration is $15 dollars for the season and your support is most welcome.

Players can join mid-season, so if you missed the beginning, what ever you do, don't miss the end.

In the 'Singles' competition each team selects one player that will compete against players from the other teams in the VTA league. The player with the highest score on the day is the 'Singles' competition winner for the season.

The Trugo 'Pairs' competitions were played at the 'Brunswick Trugo Club' today. In the 'Pairs' competition each team selects two players that will compete against all the other teams in the VTA league. The team with the highest score on the day is the 'Pairs' competition winner for the season.

The Trugo Consolation games were played at the 'Port Melbourne Trugo Club' between teams that did not make it into the top four. Due to the extreme temperatures 'Brunswick City' pulled out from the event leaving Ascot Vale, Eagles, South Melbourne and Yarraville to play it out.

In an effort to clean up Beaton reserve and surrounding area the 'Yarraville Trugo Club' will be part of the 2008 'Clean Up Australia Day'.

If you want to help clean up this area, come along.

Brunswick Trugo Club strikes the first perfect score for the season


Gerald Strachan captain of the Brunswick team strikes the first perfect score of 24 for the season at his home ground Brunswick playing against Port Melbourne.

South Melbourne Trugo Club gets new lawn


The South Melbourne Trugo Club celebrates the installation of a brand new playing surface.

The old lawn was removed and replaced with an instant lawn which is better suited to a warm climate and will require less watering.

The City of Port Philip installed the new lawn which will be watered automatically and maintained by the council.
